New and Cure The main culprit here is editing, with some responsibility reserved for Holmes as director. Parts of the movie were unnecessarily pulled. There is dead air between the lines and fillers in the scene. (One scene at a roadside café sees Benita come in, sits down, talks to Peter, eats oysters, and then starts a conversation.) The rest is confusingly blown up. At one point, Benita’s mother disappeared from A story with little explanation This seems to be much more important than the small talk that reinforces the narrative.
