In the past, I have criticized the American director for his rather lazy documentary-critical rhetoric. “It plays like a real-life thriller,” making movies like Cartel Land and City of Ghosts that put themselves on top of the story. I’ve never seen his A Private War drama with Rosamund Pai. before, but it’s no surprise that Heineman made the leap.
